Moose is an 8-year-old Australian Cattle dog mix, that we have had since he was a puppy. At his heaviest, he was 75 pounds. Moose was a dog that would eat everything in sight and was getting bigger and bigger. With three small children at home, it was very easy for him to get lots of extra calories during the day.
Starting in the fall of 2016 I chose to switch Moose to Purina OM (Overweight Management), to work out the number of calories he was getting in a day. After 9 months on the OM, Moose is down to a svelte 62.6 pounds. He is a happier dog with tonnes of energy now that he has lost the weight.
Getting Moose’s weight down not only helped him get back to his normal active self but as he gets older and enters into his senior years carrying too much weight can cause many issues like joint pain and diseases. Now that he is down to a much more manageable weight I have switched him over to the Purina Adult Essential Care maintenance diet to keep him at his current healthier weight.
I will continue to monitor his weight as it is essential in ensuring he lives a happier and healthier life.
